Peachtree Road Race
Peachtree Road Race
This was my first 10k race! Even though it was split between 2 days due to covid, this was by far the largest race I have run in!
I thought it was a perfect distance, not too short to sprint, but not too long to have to conserve energy. Before, I was
very unsure about the course, because I've heard from many people how hilly the course is. However, it was not nearly as hilly as I thought!
Cardiac Hill, the hill mentioned many many times by runners over the days leading up to the race, felt like nothing but a slight incline going up.
I didn't even realize that was the hill until I saw the water station at the top marking the hill!
My splits were (6:44)(6:35)(6:36)(6:55)(7:00)(6:02), and (5:39 for the last .2 or .3). I definitely had a lot of energy at the end, as seen
in the splits. I ended with a huge kick, sprinting over the last half mile or so. I've never ended a race with that much energy, and it felt
nice to have a strong kick at the end!
On my Garmin, the course distance measured 6.30 miles, with an average of 6:35 min/mi. However, the official Peachtree results lists it as 6.2 miles and a 6:41 min/mi. My course time was 41:33, which I am happy about given it being my first 10k and not really being sure how I would do! Based on my watch, my 10k time is 41:05, not including the extra .1 miles.
The results can be seen here!Pictures!!

The race started at 6:30 and we had to get there at 6, so we ran from the hotel to the start at 5:30.

After!
The race ended at Piedmont park where they handed out shirts, food, and other goodies!
