Suwanee Half Marathon
Suwanee Half Marathon
After my first half marathon, I was dertimined to break 1:30 in my next half marathon, but after looking at the Suwanee Half
Marathon route, I thought that my goal was a little too optimistic, and changed it to anywhere below 1:34. The Suwanne half marathon
course has sections of big hills, and then flat, and then more hills, and rolling hills. The last half mile is completely straight uphill.
For this race, I focused on pacing myself so I would have enough energy for the last hill.
This course was marked as 13.16 miles by others who ran the race, but my watch showed less (it showed 12.85, I think that my GPS cut off at some point?). My
time for the race was 1:31:07, which is a 6:57 pace. I started off in 4th place female, passing third and second place around 5 miles. For the
next 4 miles, third place was consistently behind me, almost passing at some points. I finally gained a gap at around 10 miles.
At about .7 miles left, I saw 1st place female far ahead of me, and gradually closed the gap between us. The last 150 meters of the race,
I passed 1st place, and finished 3 seconds ahead. The last half mile was super challenging, since it's a very long hill that goes all the way to the end of the race.

finisher medal and 1st place trophy!
They had issues with the results because the internet crashed in the middle of the race, so it took a while to get the results figured out
While I did the half marathon, my sister, dad, mom, and friend did the 5k.
Here's the route!
This is the route for the Suwanee Half Marathon! It starts at the front of city hall, under the train tracks, up Eva Kennedy, down Peachtree Industrial, up Tench Road, into George Pierce Park, into the Suwanee and Suwanee Creek Greenway, turns around and then up the (very long) hill to the front of city hall.
The trophy!
Here is the trophy, with the finisher medal wrapped around it :))))
